Join us October 17 at 3 p.m. for this month’s virtual Community Engagement Forum to learn about VA’s Medical Foster Homes program (MFH). This month’s guest presenter is Madison VAH’s MFH Coordinator, Jordan Miller, MSW, CISW.
The Medical Foster Homes program (MFH) is a long-term VA care program designed as an alternative to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Selected to provide an intimate, homelike environment for disabled and/or elderly Veterans who need 24/7 care, Medical Foster Homes are private homes that are owned or rented by experienced Caregivers (formal or informal caregiving experience) who are able and willing to provide care to no more than three Veterans and are brought into the program only after completing the vetting process and home inspections by the VA’s inspection team. Oversight of MFHs includes monthly unannounced visits to the home by the VA hospital’s MFH Coordinator. Details about this program, how to become a MFH Caregiver or Veteran MFH resident, and other information will be provided in this important education session.

We’ll get updates from staff of the Madison VA Hospital, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs and others.
